Omi's Matzoh Balls and the Fianal Hurrah

Rachel I'm back in SF on Thursday. Images look very good. I met with the printer yesterday. CMYK will be significantly cheaper than 6 spot colors. They are getting info on the cost of the paper I sent you info on. I told him I'd have the final files for him in early June. We're driving up to Montana in a big ol' UHaul on June 8th, so I'll need the files completed well before then. ron hey you 2 been working on the cards & almost ready for the next round of critique before the final hurrah. should be receiving paper samples anyday now. how big of a run did we decide we are going to do? right now kenaf only carries 80lb card stock in cream, which i am not sure is going to work for us...but i'll see once i receive the sample cards. they said if we order 40,000 lbs (?!) they can get us a custom bright white order. but otherwise we are working within the confines of what they have currently in stock (cream). i'd like to get feedback early next week so i still have a bit to finish up with everything. shall we do it in person or online? for the eggnog card, shall we write: HAVE A KOSHER CHRISMUKKAH!? rachel hi ron & michelle i received the kenaf paper samples today, & as much as i LOVE the concept & what they are doing, i don't think they will be what we want for chrismukkah. our colors are bright & rich, & unfortunately, the "natural" quality of the kenaf paper dulls color a bit too much...in my opinion. if we want to go recycled: the best resource for recycled papers is the celery paper guide. it used to be on the aiga web site (check committees >> environmental) or www.celerydesigncollaborative.com (resources) new leaf paper usually has good recycled cardstock papers available. they measure recycled paper by PCW content. pcw stands for Post Consumer Waste. you want at least 50%. you also look for non-chlorine bleach. all of this is explained in the celery paper guide. otherwise, finch bright white is a great way to go... http://www.finchpaper.com/paper/index.cfm shall i speak with our printers to see what they stock? do you have someone in particular that you deal with ? i have been busy getting ready for a show at canvas gallery tomorrow (12-5), but will send images over on sunday. best~ rachel Hey Rach, Saw a few things: There's a typo in spacing of first line for Matzoh Ball recipe. That said, I may want to change the recipe to a similar, but different one. I lifted this recipe from an on-line cookbook, and I'm thinking that if I can find it, I'd like to use my German jewish grandmother "Omi Freidel's" original traditional recipe... which uses real matzoh instead of matzoh meal to make the balls. It's MUCH more flavorful. Not only with my she the Minna's namesake (her real first name was Minna), but she was the original Chrismukkah Girl... in the 1930's she fell in love and then married a handsome local boy, who just happened to also be Christian, like nearly everyone else in their town. They gave birth to 2 little girls... my mother and her sister... and a few years later, when the it came time to exterminating all the Jews... the Nazi's just couldnt' figure out what to do with the half-Jew/half Christian kids. And do they survived the Holocaust in 3rd Reich paperwork limbo. I owe Freidel that recipe. Another - I think the Rudolph card should read "You would even say it glows....Merry Chrismukkah. " Rather than "Merry Menorah" We already use that one on the candy cane menorah card.. and I think once is enough. I like the way the snow man with the Yarmulkah turned out. Very nice colors. I also like his arm holding the torch or whatever that is. Everything else looks great. Ron
